Wys My 'n Huis, the hit TV show for those on the home hunt

Move over Property Brothers, Selling Sunset, and Million Dollar Listing. There's a new reality real estate TV show capturing local audiences. Wys My 'n Huis (Show Me a House), on VIA TV's popular channel 147, follows potential buyers and property practitioners as they visit different houses in search of 'the one'. The series is proudly sponsored by Century 21 South Africa, a leader in real estate in South Africa. Here's why you should tune in and catch the drama.

Real people. Real agents. Real tough decisions.

If you've ever flipped dreamily through luxury real estate listings, you'll love Wys My 'n Huis. The series puts you in the centre of the action as new homeowners, families, and couples get on the property hunt. But, they're not alone! Century 21 South Africa property practitioners are at their side, showing them stunning properties for sale or to let in their portfolios. There's pure entertainment value as these property experts scramble to tick all the boxes but also put a surprise option on the table.

From June 2022, Via TV put out a call for participants residing in Gauteng that were looking to find their dream homes. According to Dylan Prentis, National Marketing Manager at Century 21 South Africa, the response was overwhelming.

"From those in search of their first home, a townhouse investment, the picture-perfect family home, to those after a tranquil retirement nest, the interest was outstanding. Those chosen come from all walks of life and have larger-than-life personalities. Their stories are worth the watch whether you have a keen interest in real estate or want to join in the thrill of peeking into the closets of Top-Billing-style houses," says Prentis.

Watch and learn about house hunting

While Wys My 'n Huis brings the entertainment factor, it's still an informative look into the real estate journey. Buying or renting a home can be a huge financial and emotional investment. A home is more than four walls but an asset for the future. The wrong decision can be costly which is emphasised during episode screenings.

"Viewers can get stuck into the real estate process and learn a lot about what to expect when viewing properties," says Prentis. "It can be a tough choice when juggling family needs, pricing, and desires. These challenges play out in an authentic way."

Thankfully, participants have an experienced Century 21 South Africa property practitioner to guide them. "You'll see just how wonderful these property professionals can be. From helping participants understand their needs, learning about homes and neighbourhoods, negotiating, to tackling paperwork, they play a crucial role in the series," says Prentis.

While the real estate journey can be a complex one, Wys My 'n Huis offers a fascinating look at what to expect, especially as more buyers and renters enter the property market.

Stay glued to your screen with these stories

This is a show with plenty of relatable storylines. There's young engaged Kayla and Darren searching for their starter home in Brakpan. After meeting with their property practitioner, Calvin, it becomes clear that Darren will have to compromise because Kayla's taste is playing Sandton.

Another popular episode sees property practitioner Ruan with his hands full with first-time buyers Jason and Malise. Why? Because mommy Celeste also wants to have a say. The couple must decide if they will buy the property on their own or seek Celeste's help.

Catch Wys My 'n Huis on VIA TV

The TV series's first season lights up your screen every Thursday and Friday on Channel VIA at 17:00. Episodes are also available on Catch Up and in the DStv app.
